Kristi Braunlich Writes of the Success of her Recent I.S. Medical Mission

Kristi Braunlich works in I.S.’s Ocotillo, Honduras medical center, treating residents of the garbage dump community.

This letter was recently sent to our Executive Director, Oscar Dussan. In it, medical mission volunteer Kristi Braunlich describes why her trip with I.S. was a success. Thank you, Kristi, for allowing us to share your words and giving people insight into our medical missions.

Hi Oscar,

I wanted to thank you very much for everything you set up, did for me and all your help during my trip to Honduras. It was an incredible experience. I really enjoyed and am thankful for the variety of medical experience you helped plan out for me. Dr. Lagos is awesome! I was able to brush up on a lot of my nursing skills that I haven’t used in some time.

Margarita [I.S. trip coordinator] and Matt [I.S. service trip leader] were also extremely organized, attentive and made the trip very enjoyable. It was fun going with the U of D students as I really enjoyed talking with them at night and engaging in the reflections.,/>

Lastly, I was very blessed and thankful to have Homer Felipe as my translator and with me most of the time. He really made me trip! He did a phenomenal job translating, engaging with the patients and corresponding with the doctors. I was able to really get a sense of everyday life for the people of San Pedro Sula, and learn much more about the country and lifestyle from all of my discussions with Homer.

Thank you again Oscar for everything. I appreciate all of the attention and concern you had for me. I was very impressed and hope to go on another mission trip through you in the future and definitely serve medical missions as I continue my medical career.

Sincerely,
Kristi Braunlich
