Stronger than the Limitations
One question kept coming from our scholars again and again: “When will we start a football club?”
Our answer was always the same: “Not now, but it is in the plan.”
This past July, we finally decided to overcome our fears and take a step of faith. Logistically, starting a football club did not seem practical. We had limited resources, no football pitch of our own, and many unanswered questions. From a human perspective, it made little sense. But some dreams require a leap of faith before they make sense.
We began searching for nearby schools that could host our training sessions. The first field we found was dusty and unconducive. It was not ideal, but it tested our resilience and adaptability.
We did not give up.

Finding a Field, Building a Team
By the second week of training, something remarkable was happening. The boys were becoming more consistent, more disciplined, and more committed. Their passion for the game was stronger than the limitations around them.
Soon after, we formed a partnership with Dandora Secondary School, whose football field provided a much better training environment. That partnership became a turning point and gave the team renewed hope and stability.
With the guidance of a dedicated coach, the players have continued to grow in both skill and confidence. Since launching the club, we have conducted 17 training sessions, and the progress has been evident.
Taking On the Sub-County League
We recently played against Eden United, a team that competes in a sub-county league, which is part of the official football league system. Our players displayed great skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the game, and we managed to draw with them.
Soon, we will play our pre-season qualification game. We would love to qualify and compete in the sub-county league. We are hopeful and praying that we win the game and take this important step forward.
Our football club in Kenya.
More Than a Football Club
But what makes our football club unique is that winning football games is not our only focus. We believe that character matters just as much as talent. God remains at the centre of everything we do. Every training session includes a moment of prayer and reflection on Scripture, reminding our players that excellence, discipline, teamwork, and humility are values that extend beyond the football field.
Our club is called Samaritan Stars. It is a place where young people discover purpose, build discipline, develop leadership, and learn to believe in themselves. It is proof that great things can begin with limited resources, as long as there is faith, commitment, and a community willing to walk the journey together.
Long live Samaritan Stars FC.
