International Samaritan Vision Trips

Curated by Exceptional Journeys

Who's this Trip For?

If you love to travel and make a humanitarian impact, an International Samaritan vision trip may be for you. You’ll see the difference that can be made when people stop to change the life of another, and how you can do the same.

Our vision trips are designed to let you enjoy local attractions and then spend a day or two learning and serving with International Samaritan Scholars.

International Samaritan serves in communities next to city garbage dumps in developing nations. We’re committed to walking hand-in-hand with the families in these communities as they rise out of poverty.

If you only want to visit an international community, this trip isn’t for you. We’re looking for people who have a heart for international service, who want to see our mission in action, and who want to be part of helping children and families break the cycle of poverty.

Tour Itinerary

Honduras: October 20-25

Kimpton Grand Roatán is an island retreat like no other – situated just off the coast of Honduras on the historic island of Roatán. You’ll be able to enjoy private excursions like snorkeling and nature hikes.

After enjoying the beauty of the island, you’ll move inland and meet some of our Samaritan Scholars and their families in San Pedro Sula, near the city garbage dump. You’ll have the opportunity to meet and work with the teams of local leaders and scholarship students to prepare and serve food to recyclers working in the dumpsite. You’ll witness incredible poverty along with the outstanding change that’s possible when hardworking families have the opportunity to get an education and learn marketable skills.

Kenya: October 20-25

This is a trip filled with gorgeous views and up-close animal encounters! You’ll visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, one of the most successful orphan-elephant rescue and rehabilitation programs in the world. Then, for your safari, you’ll travel to a family-run camp set on the banks of the beautiful Mara River on the edge of Paradise Plains. Enjoy an authentic experience that is designed in the spirit of the original safari days, which are centered around reconnecting with nature and the surrounding environment. You’ll drive to see the natural wildlife and can even take a hot air balloon ride!

After your safari, you’ll head back to Nairobi and visit Samaritan Scholars and their families near the Dandora dumpsite. You’ll see how the people in this community have lived off the garbage dump, and how they are committed to learning marketable skills to rise out of poverty. You can cheer on our scholars in the Samaritan 5K before heading home.
